Hey there, my name is Anthony Hopkins and I am a solar advisor at Solar Power of Oklahoma. I wanted to take some time and tell you about my journey when it comes to solar energy.
I have been working for Solar Power of Oklahoma since July of 2020, but before that I was actually a customer. I became a customer like many of you. I wanted to lower my electric bill and I had always been interested in solar energy, but honestly thought it was out of reach for me. That was of course, until one day I heard a commercial on the radio and decided to give a few different companies a call.
I ended up setting up two different appointments with two different companies. The first company called me the very same day we were supposed to meet and cancelled on me. So, that meant the second appointment was with Solar Power of Oklahoma. Cayden, one of our solar advisors, came out to my home and helped me understand how solar works and how it would save me money.
There was no pressure to buy on the spot. In fact he even played with my son while he was in my home and gave me and my wife time to discuss things with out him being over our shoulder. We decided to move forward and purchase a system and Cayden stayed in contact the entire time from signing contract to the installing our system.
When the install crew showed up it was probably the most impressive crew I have ever seen. They had no issue with me standing with them and asking questions while they worked. They took the time to stop and explain the intricate details in how and why they were doing what they were doing. I was very grateful for their hard work and respect for my home in the process.
Fast forward five months. I had been in law enforcement for five years with the last year and a half as a specialized domestic violence and sexual assault investigator. I needed a change to something that had less stress not only for myself but for my family as well. I saw a job posting from Solar Power of Oklahoma for a solar advisor position. I already knew that I loved the company for how amazing they had been to work with and I also loved the product. I mean, who wouldn’t love going from paying $200 a month on their electric bill to only paying $20 a month? That’s how low my bill is now that I have solar.
I sent in my resume and meet with Kevin Jones and J.W. Peters, the owners of the company. During my interview I got a chance to see how relaxed the company was and how easily accessible the owners are not only to employee’s but to customers as well. I also got the chance to see how much they truly care for their customers and people in general. I was offered the job and the rest is history. I have been able to share my story one on one with a lot of different people in my time and have been able to show customers a real-life experience of what it is like to go solar and how life changing it can really be.
